Dear Resident

Over the past few weeks, Council has been working on many exciting initiatives, as we prepare to roll them out to invigorate our City. You would have noticed we have also started to reopen some of facilities, with the necessary precautions in place to keep you all safe.

Now, more than any other time, as a community, we must look ahead and work together, so we can enjoy our vibrant city and our new way of living.

The key to will be the success of our local businesses and how they bounce back.  Our city has over 36,000 registered businesses _ employing tens of thousands of locals. Mums, dads and students all employed locally.

Our campaign to kickstart the local economy has just begun with an “Eat Global, Visit Local” initiative aimed at attracting thousands of people to try our many multicultural eateries. Council will also offer grants to eligible small businesses to assist them develop their online marketing and promotion.

Our manufacturing sector alone employs about 17000 people and for this reason, I will be lobbying the Federal and State Governments to ensure our businesses are considered when major contracts are awarded.

The days of awarding multi-million-dollar contracts to overseas firms must come to an end. We are all part of the recovery and should support our businesses by choosing local first.

Finally, I would like to thank each one of you for your cooperation and resilience during these difficult times. For this reason, I have asked Council to show my appreciation and roll out a “Thank U” campaign, so I can showcase our community to the rest of the country and the world.

Yours sincerely
