Dear Resident

I’m honoured to be re-elected as Mayor of this great City … thank you for the faith you placed in me and for your continued support.

Indeed, we are in interesting times, and I’m excited to continue to build on the great work our Council has achieved since amalgamation – to realise its vision of becoming a better, smarter City.

There is no question, we are on the cusp of major change in our City.  A new university is being built, potentially a new hospital and TAFE, the arrival of the Metro and massive investment is being planned in our major town centres.

Rest assured, I will continue to do all I can to support you again and I won’t be taking a backward step when it comes to standing up for our community and this City.

As we begin a New Year we tend to reflect on the past year and look ahead to the future and achieving our goals.  We reflect on the tremendous goodwill found throughout our community in 2021.  Neighbours helping neighbours, businesses and organisations helping each other, and our residents pulling together with the most generous outpouring of help, donations, contributions, and displays of kindness and compassion.

More importantly, I wish to instill a sense of pride throughout the entire community in 2022.  I want people to love living here in Canterbury-Bankstown.  But I was disappointed to see loads of rubbish dumped in our parks and sporting ovals following a couple of events at Christmas and New Year.  Please, if you see someone dumping rubbish, report it by calling Council on 9707 9000 or visiting cb.city/reportit.

I look forward to the opportunities that lay ahead of us in 2022 and with the support and commitment of our new dedicated Council team, I’m confident we will successfully navigate the changes and challenges.  The best is yet to come!

Yours sincerely

Clr Khal Asfour

MAYOR
