Andrew has returned a royal Norwegian honor he received nearly four decades ago, Norway’s palace confirmed on Thursday.
The Order of St. Olav, Norway’s highest peacetime award, recognises distinguished service and was originally bestowed on then-prince Andrew in 1988.
“Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has chosen to return his order,” a palace spokesperson in Oslo said.

Pictures are emerging of uniformed police officers behind the gates of Royal Lodge on the grounds of the royal family’s Windsor estate, west of London.
That is where the former prince lived up until recently.
Thames Valley Police said they had searched two properties, including one in Berkshire, which is where Royal Lodge is.
In an email to the ABC, Norfolk Constabulary stated that “we are supporting a Thames Valley Police investigation into misconduct in public office”.
Norfolk Constabulary is the territorial police force responsible for East Anglia, the region in England where Sandringham is located.
However, the officers conducting the search are from Thames Valley Police, the force responsible for Windsor, west of London, where Andrew previously resided.
Andrew Lownie, who’s biography on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson was published last year, has posted this video on social media.
His book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, covered Mountbatten-Windsor’s links to the late child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
