EASING OF RESTRICTIONS GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO SHOP LOCAL IN LIVERPOOL

Liverpool City Councillor, Nathan Hagarty, has welcomed an easing of restrictions for Liverpool and other ‘LGAs of Concern.’ The new restrictions, which take effect from today, see consistent outdoor and recreation restrictions across Greater Sydney.

The new restrictions also allow residents to shop within the entire Liverpool Local Government Area in addition to their 5km boundary. Councillor Hagarty has encouraged residents to use these new restrictions to support local business.

“I welcome the announcement of an easing of restrictions in the LGAs of concern, including Liverpool. This will provide some much needed relief as we enter the school holidays.

“Can I encourage everyone to take full advantage of the new LGA restrictions by visiting one of Liverpool’s many great small businesses. After 3 long months of lockdown, they are doing it tough and I’ve no doubt they’d appreciate the additional business and customers these restrictions allow.

“I’m sure we’ve all missed that favourite cafe, restaurant or grocery store just beyond the 5km limit. If you can, consider paying them a visit over the coming days and weeks,” he said.

Councillor Hagarty has been leading the fight for a consistent approach to COVID-19 restrictions across Sydney including penning an open letter to the Premier in August.

“I have been speaking out against these unfair restrictions for close to three months and it is good to see some relief. However, there are still additional restrictions in place for Liverpool and the other ‘LGAs of concern.’

“There is more work to be done to end the divide and repair the damage of COVID-19 and the lockdown. Many of these issues existed before the pandemic and will require long term action and investment from all three levels of Government,” he said.
