Popular local sporting facility Kelso Park North will receive a major upgrade under a
re-elected NSW Liberal and Nationals Government, following a $672,000 commitment today.
Premier Dominic Perrottet said the improvements to drainage and the ground surface
would help significantly reduce the number of days the ground is closed due to rainand will benefit local sporting clubs and organisations.
“This upgrade will make sure Kelso Park North hosts even more footy and cricket games on the weekend and gives the local little athletics club more time on the track and field, regardless of the weather,” Mr Perrottet said. “We know rain has put a dampener on sport in recent years so it’s vital our local sports infrastructure is upgraded to allow greater access to community sport facilities for
recreation or grassroots clubs.” State Member for East Hills Wendy Lindsay said the upgrade would build upon existing
improvements being made to Kelso Park’s community sport precinct, which include a $1.5 million NSW Liberal and Nationals Government investment to upgrade player and spectator amenities. “This much-needed upgrade will not only reduce the number of games and training
days our players and athletes miss out on from heavy rain but will also allow greater
use of the facility by local organisations and schools for carnivals and events,” Ms Lindsay said. Minister for Sport Alister Henskens said the commitment is a big win for sporting groups in the local area. “Since 2017, the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government has invested more than $2 billion in grassroots community sport and we continue to support upgrades like Kelso Park North so that young people have a place to play the sport they love in their backyard,” Mr Henskens said. Bankstown Bullsharks AFL Club Tim Hall said teams and players had missed a number of training days and games due to poor playing conditions following continued
phases of wet weather.
“The support from the NSW Government means our club has more time on the parkto learn new skills, play games and have lots of fun, which is a win for everyone,” MrHall said.
