Nicole Kidman underwent a significant make-under for her new role as a gritty detective at the crime drama Destroyer.
On Monday, the 50-year-old actress was seen on set of her upcoming movie wearing a dark brown fur wig, tinted makeup and a pleather jacket over a black shirt and loose-fitting jeans. The look is definitely a far cry from her red carpet styles.
In Destroyer, Kidman portrays Erin Bell, a police detective who reconnects with individuals from an undercover mission in her distant past so as to generate peace.
Along with Destroyer and two other films coming out next year, it has been confirmed that she and Reese Witherspoon are working on another period of Big Little Lies.
The first season of the HBO miniseries, according to Liane Moriarty’s New York Times‘ best-selling book of the same title, earned praise for how candidly it addressed difficult subjects, such as domestic abuse. The series won eight Emmy awards in 2017, including Outstanding Limited Series, and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series for Kidman.
“This is inspired by the overwhelming response by audiences around the world, conceived once more by Liane Moriarty, accomplished by David E. Kelley and now in the hands of visionary filmmaker Andrea Arnold,” Kidman — who was also nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in the series — said in a statement on Monday. “What a journey this has been. I am so grateful to have this chance to keep investigating these female characters and create this series with my buddies.”
