How a Melbourne woman lost a staggering 138 kilograms in just 18 months

We’ve brought you many weight loss stories on Sunrise over the years – but none quite as extraordinary as this one.

After tipping the scales at a staggering 206 kilograms, Melbourne woman Anna Kambranis has shed an incredible 138 kilograms in just 18 months .

The 50-year-old said she decided to change her life in January 2018 when her friends pulled her aside to talk about her health.

“I had a massive problem, I was very obese,” Kambranis told Sunrise.

She immediately signed up for a personal trainer, embarked on a strict fitness regime and cut out junk food and alcohol.

“The secret is just will and determination,” she said.

“It was so much weight to take off, so I just put my mind to it and started exercising.”

Kambranis says she hits the gym at least three times a week and tries to be as active as she can by walking everywhere.

“My routine everyday is having my breakfast, then I go for a one or two or three hour walk.”

“I’ve not stopped since I lost this weight, I just want to keep it off.”

A strict diet plan sees Kambranis eat five meals throughout the day so that she doesn’t get hungry and end up binging on unhealthy snacks.

But she says it is ok to treat yourself every now and again, admitting she occasionally indulges in Smith’s Chips.

“I believe in life that you can eat healthy, but you can always have a cheat day,” she said.

Having already completed multiple half-marathons, Kambranis is now training to go all the way at the Great Ocean Road Marathon.

She said that while diet and exercise were important, her “support team” of friends and family who cheered her on and celebrated each milestone “really got me through.”
