Anne Stanley MP
Government Whip
Federal Member for Werriwa
On the 27th of July, the Hon. Chris Bowen introduced the Climate Change Bill 2022
and once legislated it will finally put an end to the decade of climate and energy policy chaos.
The Albanese Labor Government is committed to legislating our greenhouse gas
emissions reduction targets of 43% by 2030 and net zero by 2050.
The last government had 20 energy polices in 8 years creating uncertainty and
chaos for both Australians and business. We are committed to providing certainty to industry and investors so that Australia can capitalise on the global transition to a decarbonised economy.
“This Bill will end the climate wars that have been plaguing our country for the past eight years. Australia has the resources and the skills to become a renewable energy superpower, and now it has a government that has a plan for the future” said Ms Anne Stanley.
Australia had been an international pariah under the Morrison Government because
of its weak position on climate change. We are bringing our targets in line with the rest of the developed world and our key allies.
Good climate policy is good economic policy. The Albanese Labor Government will
ensure that we can reap the economic benefits of acting on climate change and
protect our unique environment.
