Labor’s number one priority is helping with the cost of living, providing targeted support withoutadding to inflation.Wewill roll out our $2.3 billion Cheaper Home Batteries Program from 1 July 2025.
This willreducethe cost ofa typicalinstalledbatteryby30 per cent–withoverone millionnewbatteriesexpectedby 2030.These batteries could save a household with existing rooftop solar up to $1,100 off their power billevery year, andup to$2,300 a year for households installing a new solar and a battery system.
This will help households reduce reliance on the grid–and take back control of their power bill.Through our scheme, households willbe able to purchase a typical battery with a 30 per centdiscount on installed costs–savingaround $4000 on a typical battery. The batterywill beinstalled athome andstore powerfrom solarpanelsfor thehousehold tousewhen needed.Itwillhelp push down peak demandwithfewerhomes needing to be on the grid at one time, pushing down prices for everyone.Labor’s plan is in stark contrast to Peter Dutton, whowill cut critical services to pay for his $600billion nuclear plan, driving up household energy bills by up to $1,200.
