Ed Husic MP Rallies Support Ahead of 2025 Federal Election

Australia faces a defining moment as voters across the country head to the polls for the Federal Election on 3 May 2025. With early voting already in progress, Australians are actively shaping the direction of the nation.
Ed Husic MP, the dedicated Member for Chifley, has remained a strong and passionate voice for his community in Western Sydney. As the election approaches, he has reiterated the Labor Party’s commitment to delivering real, practical support for families and continuing investment in critical public services.
A proud product of Western Sydney public schooling himself, Husic highlighted the Albanese government’s continued focus on properly funding public education.
“Public schools gave me a strong start in life,” Husic said. “I’m proud that our government is ensuring they receive fair and proper funding — meaning better resources, stronger student support, improved infrastructure, and ultimately, better outcomes.”
Mount Druitt is also set to benefit significantly under a $1 billion national mental health plan. The area will soon see the establishment of a Youth Specialist Care Centre, focused on helping young people with complex needs access local, timely support.
Healthcare remains front and center in Labor’s agenda. Husic emphasized cheaper medicines and Labor’s 1800 MEDICARE initiative, which gives Australians 24/7 access to free urgent healthcare advice — an essential step in keeping care accessible and affordable for all.
During a vibrant campaign event, Husic was met with strong community support for Labor’s promises, including:
• Stronger Medicare
• Tax cuts for workers
• Better school funding
As part of his campaign in Chifley, Husic is championing several key initiatives:
• A $1 billion local roads plan, including upgrades to Richmond Road
• Cutting student debt by 20%, benefiting 23,000 local students
• Protecting fee-free TAFE from proposed cuts by the Liberal Party
• Building two University Study Hubs in Mount Druitt
• Pushing to extend the Metro from Tallawong
“Let’s get this done,” Husic declared to supporters. “With your help, we can deliver real progress and opportunity for every corner of our community.”
