About 1,400 people visited the book and there was communication with about 2,000 women’s organizations and women activists from each country -Laying a foothold to cooperate with 3.8 billion women around the world
The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG, Chairwoman Hyun Sook Yoon) participated in the 65th UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) and successfully operated a virtual exhibit booth for two weeks, from March 15th to the 26th.
This year’s CSW was held online due to COVID-19 and around 1,400 women from all around the world visited the IWPG virtual booth.
Alongside the virtual booth, IWPG participated in about 400 various NGO Parallel Events to introduce IWPG and its major peace initiatives to more than 2,000 female NGO heads, women activists and leaders. Among these women, about 270 from the United States, Canada, Israel, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Jordan, Egypt, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, and France responded with interest and expressed that they wanted to cooperate with IWPG.
Women who communicated with IWPG through the CSW UN NGO Parallel Events and Virtual Exhibit Booth gave positive messages such as, “I want to learn more about the IWPG organization” and “I want to cooperate in the future because IWPG’s peaceful activities are interesting”.
IWPG, which has communicated with women activists around the world through UN CSW, will continue to maintain friendly relations and will take this as a foothold for future cooperation with 3.8 billion women on its main peace initiatives such as the Urging Support for an International Law (10 articles, 38 clauses of the DPCW) and the Women’s Peace Lecturer Training Education (PLTE).
Of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), IWPG’s initiatives focus on achieving SDG 4 “quality education” and SDG 16 “peace, justice, and strong institutions”. The initiatives also fall within the theme of this year’s 65th CSW, “women’s full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.” It is expected that close cooperation with women from countries participating in the UN CSW will be made.
