NSW:

NSW recorded 594 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

No new cases were acquired overseas, 14 previously reported cases have been excluded following further investigation, bringing the total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic is 66,267.

Sadly, NSW Health is reporting the deaths of ten people – seven men and three women.

One person was in their 40s, one person was in their 60s, four people were in their 70s, two people were in their 80s, and two people were in their 90s.

Five people were from south western Sydney, three people were from western Sydney, one person was from Wollongong and one person was from the Edward River region.

Three people were not vaccinated, four people had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and three people had received two doses.

Three people – a man in his 60s and two men in their 80s – acquired their infections at the Allity Beechwood aged care facility in Revesby. These are the first deaths linked to an outbreak at this facility.

A man in his 70s died at Westmead Hospital. His death is linked to an outbreak at the Northcourt aged care facility in North Parramatta. This is the second death linked to this outbreak.

A woman in her 70s from the Edward River region died at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. She acquired her infection in the community before being transferred to Melbourne for further specialist care.

There have been 395 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021 and 451 in total since the start of the pandemic.

There have been 60,596 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.

There are currently 959 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 188 people in intensive care, 93 of whom require ventilation.

There were 90,680 COVID-19 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 85,642.

NSW Health administered 22,987 COVID-19 vaccines in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

Across NSW, 88.6 per cent of people aged 16 and over have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 67.7 per cent are fully vaccinated to 11.59pm on Monday 4 October 2021.

The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 10,459,088 with 3,663,252 doses administered by NSW Health to 8pm last night and 6,795,836 administered by the GP network and other providers to 11.59pm on Monday 4 October 2021.

Of the 594 locally acquired cases reported to 8pm last night, 144 are from South Western Sydney Local Health District (LHD), 95 are from Western Sydney LHD, 93 are from Hunter New England LHD, 55 are from South Eastern Sydney LHD, 51 are from Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD, 44 are from Sydney LHD, 33 are from Nepean Blue Mountains LHD, 30 are from Central Coast LHD, 15 are from Northern Sydney LHD, 12 are from Southern NSW LHD, eight are from Western NSW LHD, three are from Northern NSW LHD, two are from Mid North Coast LHD, one is from Murrumbidgee LHD, one is from Far West LHD, two are in correctional settings, and five are yet to be assigned to an LHD.

If you are directed to get tested for COVID 19 or self-isolate at any time, you must follow the rules whether or not the venue or exposure setting is listed on the NSW Health website.

It remains vital that anyone who has any symptoms or is a close or casual contact of a person with COVID-19, isolates and is tested immediately. When testing clinics are busy, please ensure you stay in line, identify yourself to staff and tell them that you have symptoms or are a contact of a case.

Victoria:

Victoria has another 1420 local virus cases and 11 deaths as the CFMEU prepares to expel members involved in violent protests outside its Melbourne office.

It is the most fatalities reported in a single day yet in Victoria’s current outbreak, and brings the toll to 68.

They were five men and six women from Melbourne’s north, west and south-east. They were aged from their 50s to their 90s.

ACT:

The ACT has recorded 28 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases, and an additional death.
